White Lodging announced groundbreaking for a dual-branded hotel complex in downtown Austin at the intersection of 7th and Congress. The 32-story development will house a 278-room Aloft Austin Downtown and 144-room Element Austin Downtown, with openings scheduled for early summer 2017.
The hotels are owned by White Lodging affiliates, REI Real Estate Inc., and Poe Companies, and will be managed by White Lodging. These will be the 22nd and 23rd White Lodging-managed properties in the Austin area.
"We are excited to be bringing another cool lodging option along with a hip restaurant & bar to the heart of downtown Austin," stated Deno Yiankes, President and CEO of White Lodging's Investments & Development division.
The properties will feature shared amenities including a 24-hour fitness center and approximately 1,380 square feet of meeting space. Both hotels will be within walking distance of Austin's 6th Street Entertainment District, the Convention Center, and UT-Austin campus.
